EligibilitySuited to medical and allied health professionals as well as those from a sciences / educational background, or interested in a solid science approach to issues of health, illness and health care provision. ContentThis paper provides a framework for understanding the strengths of the different methodologies available for use in health research. We look at the range of social science methods available to public health and their theoretical underpinnings. Experiential learning in a range of qualitative methods and seminar work relating to survey techniques is followed by discussions of funding, policy and strategic issues which relate to the health research and evolving methodologies arising from bicultural and cross-cultural imperatives. Assignments are designed to build competence around particular projects of student interest.
