Eligibility

Applicants must show a basic understanding of interpersonal psychotherapy by having successfully completed and passed either

Course numbers are limited to 8. Students wishing to undertake this paper must undergo a personal interview with the course convenor.

Content

This paper will allow students to extend their use and knowledge of IPT techniques and enable students to undergo training in IPT using psychotherapy supervision workshops.

Teaching Arrangements

Four 3 day workshops over a full academic year plus monthly group supervision sessions of 3 hours duration. A log book will be used to document skills.

Assessment

There are four items of assessment for PSMX 427.

  • The completion of a log book,
  • preparation of a research proposal using IPT as therapy,
  • self-critique of a candidate’s own transcribed session of IPT
  • an individual case presentation.
