Content

This paper aims to provide a broad introduction to the assessment, treatment and management of the mental disorder and behavioural problems in children and adolescents, with an emphasis on disorders arising in adolescence.

The content will also cover some developmental issues (e.g., heredity, attachment, peer relationships and family environment) of relevance during adolescence and include the following disorders: anxiety disorders, mood disorders, suicide, disruptive behaviour disorders, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, and alcohol and drug disorders.

This paper can be taken as part of a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences (Child and Adolescent Mental Health) in conjunction with PSME 423: Child and Family Mental Health. (It is strongly recommended that PSME 423 be taken before PSME 420)
