Eligibility

This is a clinically and academically orientated paper which aims to upskill clinicians working in the broad field of mental health.

Content

This course content focuses on the assessment and management of eating disorders, as well as examining the aetiology, research, ethical issues and special populations.

On successful completion of this paper, students will:

  • Have a knowledge and understanding of selected causal theories eating disorders
  • Have a working knowledge of the clinical issues in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders
  • Be knowledgeable about current research relating to eating disorders

Teaching Arrangements

Formal teaching sessions will be four two day block course workshops.

    Dates to be advised.

Students may be expected to visit relevant services during the semester.

Texts

A variety of general texts and journals relevant to the course can be located in the Canterbury Medical Library. Where possible, required readings will be supplied directly to the class.
