MSMX 707 - Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation

EligibilitySuitable for appropriately qualified allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, osteopaths, nurses etc with prior experience in a related health area, and subject to the approval of the Academic Co-ordinator. ContentThis paper focuses on the prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders. It includes an overview of the principles of epidemiology, critical understanding and analysis of research, clinical decision analysis, and clinical epidemiology. MSMX 707 consists of eight modules, taught sequentially. Students must complete all modules:
Each paper is subject to annual updating and revision. At the time of going to print, the above information is correct, but as a result of this updating, some changes could be made to individual modules. Teaching ArrangementsEach module is accompanied by a one-hour audioconference session held fortnightly (Thursday evening - 8.10pm - 9.00pm). There are 8 sessions for this paper. There are no lectures; audioconferences are in a tutorial or seminar format. Students are provided with a comprehensive course workbook containing required readings, and are expected to be familiar with this material prior to the audioconference. The audioconferences are complemented by the use of an interactive web based teaching tool - Blackboard- to which students will be required to have access. This will provide students with the opportunity to receive additional resources and also to take part in on-line assessments, quizzes, surveys, discussion boards, chat rooms, etc specific to each module. Podcasts of each audioconference are also available for downloading. AssessmentThere will be continuous assessment during the semester, which could include a marked practical or applied project and a final two hour written examination.
