HASX 404 - Health Care of the Elderly

Eligibility

• suitable for health professionals of all disciplines working with older people
• applicants will find past or present experience of working with older people an advantage

Content

Content will include physiology and homeostasis in later life, and current evidence-based practice and service models recommended for the treatment and management of common conditions affecting older people, including stroke, Parkinson's disease, dementia and osteoporosis.

Teaching Arrangements/Dates

The course is taught in on-campus blocks in Christchurch during the first semester (March-July) - attendance at all blocks is compulsory. There are likely to be two four-day blocks.

Assessment

Three assignments worth 20% each and a project worth 40%
