Carney Pharmacogenomics Symposium

IN CONJUNCTION WITH ASCEPT (NZ), 2010

Our annual one-day scientific meeting reviews pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics research from around the country and further afield. Attendance is open to all, and as the meeting costs are sponsored by the Carney Centre there is no registration charge. We do, however, request that you register for planning purposes. Registration deadline is 13 August, but there are limited places and they will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

Please let us know if you would like to present at the meeting. Prior programmes and instructions for preparing abstracts are below. The abstract deadline is 30th July.

The 2010 meeting will be held on 31 August, at University of Otago, Christchurch (formerly Christchurch school of Medicine & Health Sciences). This meeting will be back-back with the NZ ASCEPT Meeting, but is open to all whether or not you are planning to attend ASCEPT. We are located at the corner of Riccarton and Hagley Avenues, Christchurch (map here - UOC building in grey, marked "School of Medicine"). When you get here, look for the yellow "Research Saves Lives" slogan).

Confirmed speakers:

Ass Prof David Joyce (University of Western Australaia, Perth) - CYP2D6 Pharmacogenetics in Clinical Decision Making.

Dr Andy Lea (Genetic Test Evaluation Program, Hayes, Inc; Christchurch) - Pharmacogenomic Tests: The Good, the Bad and the Unknown.

Dr Janet Coller (University of Adelaide) - Pharmacogenetics of renal transplants.

Dr Mik Black (Department of Biochemistry, University of Otago, Dunedin) - Pharmacogenomics of breast cancer treatment.

Please contact Martin Kennedy or Evan Begg if you would like to present, or wish to recommend other speakers.

Abstract submission:

We would appreciate an abstract of your talk. The abstract should be 150-250 words in length, and should succinctly introduce your work, giving an outline of content including (where appropriate) a brief description of methods, results and conclusions. Abstracts will be published in the Symposium Program.

The closing date for submission of abstracts is 30 July 2010.

All abstracts should be prepared on this template and submitted as an e-mail attachment to martin.kennedy@otago.ac.nz.
