CCERG - Physiology
Group
Research Focus/activities
Research interests of the physiology team include investigation of the
cardiovascular, endocrine and renal integration of circulatory function
and pressure/volume
control in both health and disease. Particular emphasis is placed on the
role that key vasoactive hormones (the natriuretic peptides, adrenomedullin,
endothelin, urocortin and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system) play in
the pathophysiology of circulatory diseases such as hypertension, myocardial
infarction and heart failure and ways of manipulating these underlying
systems
in order to prevent and treat these diseases.
