Projects:

I have extensive experience often, but not exclusively, in large population based studies. From this I have developed a strong skills base in study design, data collection, data handling and statistical computing as well as analysis. Main projects:

• To develop microsimulation models of colorectal cancer (MoDCONZ) in New Zealand and then apply epidemiological, clinical, economic and qualitative data to this model to provide essential information for the control of CRC in NZ.
• Principal analyst for Te Rau Hinengaro: The New Zealand Mental Health Survey, a national survey of 12,992 people aged 16 years and older interviewed during 2003/04. 2006 [HRC] Equity, variation and convergence in surgeons' clinical judgements of priority

Committee member of the Health Research Society of Canterbury (formerly the Christchurch Medical Research Society).

Background:

I joined the School of Medicine in June 2004 after working for the MRC Biostatistics Unit, Cambridge; Health Services Research Unit, Aberdeen and Cancer Research UK.
