Postgraduate Nursing Studies
Te Pokapū Paerua Nēhi

Introduction

The Centre for Postgraduate Nursing Studies is approved as an educational provider by the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ). As such the Centre is committed to providing clinically relevant courses comprised of theoretical and practice components congruent with the Advanced Nursing Competencies set out by NCNZ, which are on the pathway to Nurse Practitioner status. Certificates contain substantial clinical components taught by expert nurses in a variety of areas.

Studies undertaken at the Centre for Postgraduate Nursing Studies are aligned with National Health Policy directives and the NCNZ framework for postgraduate nursing education (2002), and are responsive to community requirements.

There are several programmes of study available at the Centre. The courses are both clinically and theoretically focused and will provide Registered Nurses with advanced knowledge and skills particular to their scope of practice.

Papers are largely taught in blocks, making them available to Registered Nurses outside of Christchurch.
