Full Members may request items
provided they aren't currently available from their branch library or available
to them online. Request forms can be obtained from all CML library branches
or from the links below. Note that items which need to be interloaned from
another library may incur a charge.
STEP 1 - SEARCH THE CATALOGUE: - Search
the online
library catalogue or the electronic
journal portal to see if the item you want is available
in paper or online format. The catalogue links through to the ejournal
portal so it is often the best place to start. For assistance contact
the library reference desk on 80504 (or contact your branch library).

STEP 2 - COLLECT ITEMS FROM SHELVES: -
Collect items yourself if currently available from your branch
library, or download if it is available online. You may place a
request if all copies at your branch library are on loan.
Please do not place reserves on items that
are currently available at your branch library or online (such
requests will be returned to you).

STEP 3 - REQUEST THE ITEM: - Provided
the item isn't available complete a request form.

or email to librarycml.uoc@otago.ac.nz.

AVOID DELAYS - ensure that you complete all relevant details including:
|
- Your name and contact details
- Full details of the item you require
- The cost centre you are authorized to charge against
- You have signed the form
|
CHARGES
|
- Standard requests and holds - There are no charges
for requests for items held within the Canterbury Medical Library
system.
- Interloans - are charged and you need to be authorized
to charge to a cost centre or to pay personally.
- The downloaded form allows you to put a maximum cost
you are prepared to pay.
- The online form has an option to request confirmation
of cost before proceeding. Note that there is a higher
fee for urgent interloan requests.
- Document Delivery - Library staff will retrieve and
copy journal articles for you but document delivery charges apply.
- Urgent requests - There is an additional charge for
urgent requests. If you require urgent delivery please tick the
appropriate box and if possible fill out the “Date required
by”. Note that interloans normally arrive within a week.

PICK UP AND DELIVERY OF REQUESTED ITEMS:

Books or journal issues arriving for requests will
be held at your local branch library. You will receive notification
advising you to call at the library loans desk with your membership
card to collect the item and will need to sign to show you have
collected interloaned items.
Journal articles obtained for you on interloan will be sent
to you in the internal mail.

SAVE TIME BY MAKING YOUR OWN MASTER REQUEST

If you request items regularly you might wish to
download the Word version of the request form. You can then save
a copy to your own computer account after entering your personal
address details. This will save having to enter your personal details
each time you make a request.
